A digest of complaints from a young curmudgeon.
Christmas is over. The presents have been presented, the carols have been carolled, and the eggs have been nogged. What do we do now?
You probably have Friday off, so you’ve got a long time to get back home. Once you do get back to work on Monday, you’re just killing time until New Year’s Eve. I seriously doubt that any company gets anything done this week.
Television stinks. Christmas specials have ended, and the midseason doesn’t start until next month.
You can’t really meet up with friends. Most of them will be out of town on their own schedule. You definitely won’t see them until New Year’s Eve.
If you have children, you’ve got to entertain them some how, they don’t have school for another week or two.
There’s nothing to do but eat Christmas leftovers. There’s nothing to do but sit around and wait.
Even sports stink. The best NFL teams are resting their best players for the playoffs. College football bowl games don’t really mean anything until January, but that’s a rant I’ll get to on Monday.
It’s a weird week. It’s like the last day of school, when everything’s off the walls, there’s nothing left to teach, and everyone is watching the clock. It’s like the end of a party, when the music has stopped, but you need to wait for your friends to move their cars. It’s like this blog post, it’s keeps going and going, never really gets to the point, and isn’t very interesting.
The sad part is that we’ll all probably spend this next week updating our Facebook statuses.
